Ingredients

  • 2 salmon fillets (6 oz each), skin-on
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Lemon wedges, to serve

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry and rub with olive oil on all sides.
  2. Season with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place skin-side down in the air fryer basket, leaving space between fillets.
  4. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 8–10 minutes, until the salmon flakes easily.
  5. Rest 2 minutes, then serve with lemon wedges.

Why the Air Fryer Works So Well for Salmon

The concentrated, circulating heat crisps the skin and edges quickly while keeping the center of the fillet moist — something that's harder to nail consistently in a conventional oven without drying it out.

Checking for Doneness

Salmon is done when it flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of about 125–130°F for medium, or 140°F if you prefer it well done. Pull it a minute early if unsure — it keeps cooking as it rests.

Air Fryer Salmon FAQ

Do I need to flip the salmon?
No, cooking skin-side down the whole time gives the best texture without flipping.
Can I use frozen salmon?
Yes, add about 4 extra minutes of cook time and pat dry after any thawing.
What sides pair well with this?
Roasted asparagus, rice, or a simple green salad all work well alongside.
